2026 International Student Prospectus for Postgraduate Programs of Central South University of Forestry & Technology

I. University Profile

Central South University of Forestry & Technology (CSUFT) is located in Changsha, a historic and cultural city of China, with an elegant environment and convenient transportation. Founded in 1911. CSUFT has developed into a multi-disciplinary institution with forestry as its distinctive feature, covering nine major academic disciplines and possessing a complete system for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral education as well as degree authorization. The university currently offers 68 undergraduate programs, 43 master's programs, 9 doctoral programs, and 5 postdoctoral research stations. The discipline of Forestry Engineering is a world-class discipline under cultivation in Hunan Province, China, while three disciplines—Wood Science and Technology, Forestry, and Ecology—are national key (cultivation) disciplines in China. Seven disciplines, including Agricultural Science, Engineering, Environmental Ecology, Materials Science, Plant and Animal Science, Chemistry, and Computer Science, rank in the top 1% globally according to ESI. The university boasts 9 national-level teaching and research platforms and 69 provincial/ministerial-level teaching and research platforms. CSUFT currently has 2,283 faculty and staff members, including 1,006 senior-title teachers, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 60 other national-level talents. The university library covers an area of 43,000 square meters with a physical collection of 2.56 million volumes (items).

CSUFT boasts a high level of educational internationalization and a vibrant global academic atmosphere. 1. CSUFT President’s Scholarship

Students who are awarded CSUFT President's Scholarship can get the corresponding amount of scholarship for the first academic year,which is shown in the table below:

1. Foreign Student Scholarship of Hunan Province

The purpose of this scholarship is to reward international students who have completed one year’s study at CSUFT with outstanding performance academically and comprehensively.The standard of this scholarship is RMB 20,000 per year for master students and RMB 25,000 per year for Doctoral students.

2. CSUFT Outstanding Student Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to reward international students featured by hardworking in study,academical excellence,and active participation in academic competitions,social welfare, cultural exchanges and other social practice activities.Applicants are international students who have completed one year of study at CSUFT and continue to study in the following year. The scholarship criteria for“outstanding students”is as follows:first prize, RMB 2,000 per person; second prize, RMB 1,500 per person; third prize, RMB 1,000 per person.

3. Enterprise-sponsored Scholarships

This scholarship aims to encourage international students to actively participate in school-enterprise activities,social practice and internship training in enterprises, to improve students' professional and social practice ability,and to promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises. Scholarship standards vary among enterprises.

Important Notes: If the scholarship system and amount change, the new system will prevail.

VI. Application Platform

       Login via the “International Student Service Platform of Central South University of Forestry and Technology” (https://csuft.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx) or scan the QR code to register and submit application documents. When registering, the user name must be the applicant's latest passport number; the e-mail attached, as the backup contact means other than the one within the platform, must be real and effective.

       




VII. Eligibility

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese high school graduates with no criminal record, physical and mental health, excellent academic grades, strong academic background, and scientific research and innovation ability; for international students with education experience in China do not belong to the “Three-illegal” persons (illegal entry, illegal residence, illegal employment) or have been punished by the school due to serious disciplinary and regulatory violations, and voluntarily abide by the laws of China and the regulations of CSUFT. Applicants concealing the disciplinary violations will be held responsible for the consequences.

2. Chinese citizens apply to enter CSUFT as international students after immigrating to foreign countries, must have held a valid foreign passport or a document certifying his/her nationality for 4 years or more, and have lived in a foreign country for more than 2 years in the last four years (up to April 30, 2026). Actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, based on the entry and exit official stamps.

3. Age Requirements

Master’s program applicants: 18 ~ 32 years old;

Doctoral program applicants: 20 ~ 40 years old.

4. Applicants for a master's program must have obtained a bachelor's degree or equivalent; applicants for a doctoral degree must have obtained a master's degree or equivalent.

5. Language Requirements

(1) Applicants for Chinese-medium majors must provide a certificate of Chinese language proficiency obtained after June 30th, 2024 with HSK5 180 scores or above (with a writing score of no less than 65).

(2) For applicants of majors taught in English,their English proficiency must meet one of the following three requirements:

① English as the native or official language;

② Certificate of English language proficiency obtained after 30th June,2024, such as IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL 90, C1 by CEFR or above;

③ Official statement issued by previous school if courses are taught in English.

6. If there are separate admission requirements for some majors,the corresponding conditions must be met before admission,referring to“Ⅱ.Main Information on Categories and Majors”for details.

VIII. Application Documents

1. Ordinary Passport. A scanned copy of the passport's main page (valid until after February 20, 2027). Applicants with previous experiences in China should provide scans of all documents related to Chinese visas and residence permits.If there is a current residence permit in China,its validity MUST be no less than 30 days.

2. Degree Certificates: Original or notarized copies of all degree certificates starting from the bachelor's level.Current graduates should provide a pre-graduation statement with an official seal issued by their universities(graduation date should be before 10th September,2026). The original degree certificates must be submitted upon registration.

3. Transcripts:

(1) Officially-issued transcripts in Chinese or English for all courses taken starting from the bachelor's level to the latest. For transcripts in other languages, their Chinese or English notarized translations must be provided.

(2) Although the CSCA score is not a must for CSUFT programs, applicants with scores above the standard will be prioritized to be admitted.

4. Non-criminal Record. The name on this Record should be identical with the full name in the passport. The document must be issued by the public security organ or judicial authority at or above the county level where the applicant resides, with the issuance date no later than 30 days prior to the submission of the enrollment application. The name must match the full name on the passport.

           

   5. Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants must undergo a medical examination following the items listed in the form (Referring to the 1st attachment, or downloading the form by scanning the QR code), which should be strictly filled with following the sample form(Referring to the 2nd attachment, or downloading the form by scanning the QR code). And the form MUST be filled only in Chinese or English. Forms

with missing items, lacking the applicant’s photo, the hospital stamp, the doctor’s signature, and the date of examination are all invalid. The examination must be done after February 20th, 2026. If admitted, the applicant must bring the original copy of the Foreign Physical Examination Form to the university for registration.

6.Language Proficiency Proof. Applicants applying for Chinese-taught program must provide HSK4 180 scores or above score reports within the validity period. For English taught programs, applicants from non-English speaking countries shall provide scanned copies of TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, EF scores, or other documents proving their English proficiency.

       7. Two Recommendation Letters. The letter should be written in Chinese or English by persons with the titles of associate professor or professor in the relevant field. The contents should include the applicant's academic level, the goal of studying in China, as well as an evaluation of the applicant's overall ability and future development. The referrer’s signature and detailed contact information (including telephone number, email address, work unit, mailing address, etc) must be attached. The issuance date should be after January 1st , 2026.

8. Study/Research Plan (more than 1000 words). Applicants should specify their research topic, research objectives, research methods, and expected outcomes; the study plan must be written in Chinese or English. (See Attachment 3 or scan the QR code to download the "International Graduate Student Study Plan Template")





9. Self-introduction Video and Resume. The video should focus on introducing the applicant's educational and professional background, and demonstrate the research ability and potential. The language of self-introduction should be the same with the instruction language of the applied program, and the video should be in avi, mov and mp4 formats, within 50 M. The CV must include a chronological list of educational experiences from the bachelor's level onward. Applicants with work experiences should be enclosed.

     10. Colored 2-inch Bareheaded ID Photo. ID photo taken after January1st, 2026, white background without border,head occupies 2/3 of the size of the photo, the size of the photo should not be less than 320*240 pixels, the aspect ratio should be 4:3, the size should be 100-500KB, JPG format.

11. Proof of Financial Guarantee. All applicants must submit a bank deposit certificate for a fixed-term deposit of no less than RMB 30,000 or equivalent in foreign currency for a period exceeding one year, or submit an Economic Guarantee Letter (see Attachment 4 or scan the QR code for download) .





12. Non-Chinese students who studied at the previous academic level in Chinese mainland, in addition to submitting the aforementioned relevant materials, must also submit a School Performance Appraisal issued by their attending school. The appraisal letter must include the contact person's name, telephone number, email address, and mailing address, and be stamped with the official seal.

Important Notes:

1. All documents are accepted only in Chinese or English, and other foreign language texts must be submitted with a translation notarized by a notary public.

2. All documents shall be scanned into PDF format and uploaded, and the applicant shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unrecognizable materials.

3. If necessary, CSUFT has the right to ask the applicant to provide additional documents.

4. All documents will not be returned regardless of acceptance.

5. According to the relevant policies of the Ministry of Education of China, long-term international students in China are required to purchase Comprehensive Insurance for International Students. The insurance fee is not included in any scholarship for international students, therefore, international students have to pay for the insurance at their own expense, otherwise the student’s registration procedure cannot be completed.

IX. Procedures of Application and Admission

1. Online Application

Applicants log in to the CSUFT International Student Service Platform https://csuft.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx), complete the registration and submit the application documents.

2. Preliminary Document Review and Application Fee Cleared

After passing the preliminary document-examination, applicant MUST pay the application fee of RMB 500 within a specified period according to the email instructions, and upload a remittance proof of payment to the application system. If the application fee is not paid after the deadline, the next round of review will not be possible.

3. Review by Colleges

The CSUFT colleges will conduct a comprehensive review regarding the applicant's academic background,scientific research ability and innovation ability.

4. Admission Confirmation

CSUFT will admit the applicants on the basis of merit according to the review results, and issue a scanned copy of admission letter. Accepted applicants will be required to pay RMB 2,000 for occupation fee (The remaining balance after enrollment is offset against tuition or accommodation fees and will be refunded. If enrollment is not completed due to personal reasons, the placement fee will not be refunded) .

5. Delivering the Admission Letter and JW202 Form.

Important Notes:

(1) All fee rates specified in this prospectus are denominated in Renminbi (RMB).

(2) The application fee is non-refundable once paid.

(3) Applicants are requested to log in CSUFT International Student Service Platform in time to check the progress of review and admission status.

(4) The funding category of the admitted students is subject to the admission letter.

Important Notes:

(1) When making a remittance, you must include a note. The note format is: “Applicant's Passport Number + Name” or “Applicant's Passport Number + Name Abbreviation”.

(2) Non-RMB remittances should be converted into the corresponding US dollars or euros based on the exchange rate of Bank of China on the day of remittance.

XI. Violation of Affirmation

Any individual found engaging in fraudulent activities or misconduct will face strict disciplinary actions upon verification. If discovered during the application process, admission eligibility will be revoked; if identified before enrollment, admission will be denied; if detected after enrollment, academic status will be terminated; if uncovered after graduation, the Ministry of Education of China will declare the degree and diploma invalid and order their recovery or confiscation. Cases involving criminal suspicion will be referred to judicial authorities for legal proceedings.
